The ask

Gran Coramino and LISC were offering $10,000 grants to under-resourced entrepreneurs and needed to get the word out to qualified applicants before the April 23 deadline.

#ShopBLCK Pop-Up Series

New York, NY + Washington, DC · 2024 – 2025#ShopBLCK Series
The ask

For Black History Month 2024, we set out to create a pop-up marketplace and networking platform that highlights and supports Black-owned businesses, fostering community engagement and economic empowerment. It has since become a series, with a goal of at least one pop-up every year.

What we built

Each #ShopBLCK is a celebration of shopping, entertainment, culture, and community featuring emerging Black-owned businesses, curated DJ sets, and happy hour from local wine and spirit brands. We source the vendors and partners, program the workshops, and produce each pop-up end to end.

✱ FAQ

Questions, answered

How do we avoid a campaign that feels performative?

We build programs with the community, not just for it, and put resources directly into the people involved. To date we’ve reinvested $360K+ into our BIPOC talent community.

How is impact measured?

Dollars reinvested, creators and businesses reached, sales generated, and participation, reported in a format your team can use for CSR and impact reporting.

Does working with TTH count toward supplier diversity goals?

Yes. Transform The Hustle is a certified Minority + Women Owned small business, so spend with us can count toward your diverse supplier commitments.

Is this only for heritage months?

No. We plan heritage month moments like our #ShopBLCK Black History Month pop-up, and we build year-round programs so the commitment doesn’t end when the month does.
